JULY 2002: TERRY ROBB RELEASES SOLO ACOUSTIC ALBUM
"WHEN I PLAY MY BLUES GUITAR"

“When I Play My Blues Guitar”, Robb’s most recent recording on Burnside Records, marks his fourth release on the independent blues label and his first-ever solo acoustic blues record. “When I Play My Blues Guitar” features 10 original songs with styles ranging from Blind Blake to John Lee Hooker and 8 carefully chosen covers. Each tune showcases Terry’s incredible intricate fingerpicking style combined with a fine touch – his trademark sound. Song’s on this new disc include a tour d’ force of slide guitar on the medley of 3 songs set around the classic slide guitar piece ‘Guitar Rag’ by Sylvester Weaver to the more traditional country blues of Tommy Johnson’s ‘Bye and Bye.’ The two songs that are the centerpiece of this new release are the rapid fingerpicking cover of Rev. Gary Davis’ ragtime classic ‘Buck Dance’ and the beautiful and transcendent tribute ‘Fahey at Bush Park’ that Terry wrote for his dear friend and mentor, the late John Fahey. “When I Play My Blues Guitar” is quite simply an acoustic celebration of everything Terry has done masterfully over the years.
